About

Tery and Daniel McCowan started their new and exciting venture which is Clachan Manse En Suite Rooms in April 2018. We welcome families and couples alike. Applecross is a wonderful place to explore for anyone. With a wealth of beaches, several local walks, kayaking, photographic workshops, personal training workouts, group workouts, amazing places to eat and drink and lots more!

Tery is a Designer originally from Edinburgh and runs her printing and interior design business ‘Clement Design’ from her home studio at Clachan. She is a trained screen printer and her wallpaper and hand printed textile designs feature throughout the Bed & Breakfast. From the wallpaper to the cushions, blinds, tea towels – through to the placemats and mugs; Tery has designed a contemporary and Scottish range for you to enjoy.

about us image

Daniel grew up in Applecross and then went on to study Mechanical Engineering at Strathclyde but soon realised he preferred working outdoors! He turned his hand to Joinery which he now does full time for his brother’s business in Applecross. McCowan Joinery has renovated the annex of Clachan Manse into the beautiful 2 double rooms that we run as our business.

The couple like to support and promote locally made crafts and produce where possible. They even have a wee home interiors gift area so that if you like what you see on your stay then you can buy it to take it home to enjoy. As well as Tery’s own interior design range you can purchase toiletries made in Scotland, locally made jams, Scottish artwork, photography and lots of other fantastic and unique finds.

They live in the manse along with their 2 lovely girls Freya & Phoebe who are ages 10 and 11, their black cat Bo and their dog Fynn. The family welcome you to Clachan and hope you have a wonderful stay here.
